About
A laboratory for developer tools
Quiet Grid Labs is an independent software studio building digital products, connected systems and AI-powered experiences. We build our own tools, too: Viaduct, Quackly and Viaduct MCP.
Fifteen years of building the systems these tools describe
More than fifteen years building software end to end: idea, design, implementation, launch, and the first people who depend on it. The lab exists because architecture knowledge kept leaking out of the model and into places nobody maintains.
The name, in three parts
Quiet
Less theatre, more shipped surface. We prefer a calm editor over a loud platform story.
Grid
Systems, containers, components, docs and flows on one map — so critical knowledge is not hanging on a single hero or a forgotten wiki.
Labs
We treat tools as experiments run with production discipline. Every product earns its place by solving a real problem.

Why a duck
Say "Quiet Grid" quickly and it quacks. The joke became the mascot, and the mascot turned out to be the point: the thing you explain a system to, out loud, until you hear the hole in it yourself.
Method
Observe → Isolate → Ship → Listen
Every tool should reduce the distance between a diagram and the information required to act on it. If a release does not shorten that distance, it does not go out.
01
Observe
Watch where architecture work actually breaks: diagrams, docs, reviews, and the context a coding agent is missing.
02
Isolate
Cut a tool around one job. No platform theatre. Viaduct exists because the model and the explanation were separate artefacts.
03
Ship
Browser editor, collaboration, export, MCP. Usable without signing in; cloud when a team needs it.
04
Listen
Access on request. We want failure cases from people who maintain real architecture, not demo applause.
The fastest way to judge the lab is to use what it shipped
Open Viaduct on a system you already maintain and see whether it holds up.
